Cookbook Cabinet With Mom's Recipe

After a long winter and plenty of time spent indoors, we decided to do a small makeover of our humble kitchen when spring arrived! This is our do over of the cabinet above the microwave!
This is our cookbook cabinet with mom's recipe! We are so proud that we were not only able to make the shelf usable, but that we could add one of our late mom's favorite recipes!
Here is what our kitchen looked like before we started our small makeover. If you look above the stove, you will see the triangle shelf.
Here, Steve uses a piece of wood he cut that would square up the shelf.
Then, he used three boards on each side to nail the board in place.
We finished the outside of the box with some left over cedar that we had lying around. Worked well, since the kitchen and living area are trimmed in cedar.
Once the cabinet was finished, I placed vinyl on a piece of plexiglass and then spray painted it, red. That turned out to be kinda tricky:)
Cookbook cabinet with the light illuminating the recipe!
