If you're anything like me you love thrift stores! You can almost always find the best deal on furniture! I was on one of my thrift store runs when I found this adorable little cabinet. It just needed my Magic Touch and it was ready to hold some of my beachy Treasures.
So here's what it looked like before. I think it actually was a piece of a larger cabinet. Before I start any of my projects I use a solution of vinegar and water to wipe them down just to get any ickey stickys off of it. Then it was time to paint.
We actually wanted to add some height to the cabinet to make it look more finished so we bought some bun molding from Home Depot which comes in all different shapes and sizes and basically screws to the bottom of your pieces. It's a beautiful extra out of touch to any piece of furniture plus it adds a little bit of height. You will find these pieces in the lumber section by the spindles and legs.
So for a lot of my pieces especially since I get them from thrift stores and yard sales sometimes they have a funky smell so I like to first use a light coat of zinsser Bullseye 1 2 3 primer. I find that it works very well in helping the paint stick and it also covers up any unwanted odor and is an amazing product. So I started with a coat. of that for this project.
If you're anything like me you have a ton of paint laying around so I actually took this Calypso sky folk art enamel that I purchased from Walmart and dry rushed right over the bullseye. You just dip your brush very lightly and kind of do fast Strokes over the whole thing.
This was a super fun and easy project and now I have a beautiful little corner shelf for all my goodies. Anytime I can get a piece of furniture that also functions to store some of my finds is a win-win for me. I hope you enjoyed my project please check me out on Facebook at Sierra Stars Furniture & Gifts.
