Creating a Zinc Finish on Furniture

Come find out how Heidi from Lily Field Furniture gave this buffet a zinc-style finish by layering Lazy Linen, Pebble Beach, Graphite Glaze, and Antiquing Wax!
This buffet was a special project for a new client. She and her husband have a beautiful Frank Lloyd Wright style home and wanted to update this buffet for a new room thay were renovating.

She requested a weathered, glazed, almost metallic look for the finish. To complete this look I took several different steps. To start, I painted the entire piece with 1 layer of very light grey, Lazy Linen as the base coat. Once that was dry I went ahead and dry brushed a layer of deeper grey, Pebble Beach for the top color. Next I went over the entire piece with Graphite Glaze taking care to leave behind glaze in the geometric patterns of the buffet. See below pictures for a step by step of these processes.
Once the glaze was dry (I let it sit for a good 2 days) I wanted an even deeper look and so I went over the entire piece with Antiquing wax. This created the perfect finish- almost zinc like in appearance!
