Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest: OFMP Gives a Jelly Cupboard New Life

I inherited this old jelly cupboard from my antiques-loving parents. When I hauled it to California it was a faded shade of brick red.
I decided to enter the Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest because I have intended to give this cupboard a makeover, and Old Fashioned Milk Paint is the perfect medium.
I chose Soldier Blue because our new home is slowly coming together with different shades and layers of blue. I never get tired of this color.
I stripped the black paint, sanding the stubborn areas, and covered the entire piece with a white wash.
The top transformed into a beautiful blend of old white paint and wood. I decided to leave the top as is, with just a light shade of stain and a top coat to protect it.
I cleaned the antique hardware and replaced the black wooden knobs with gold/brass cup pulls.
I remember my Dad using milk paint when I was very young. I asked my Mom if she knew what brand he used. She found his old stash and took some pictures for me. Same brand. He had Mustard, Barn Red, and Soldier Blue.

You did a beautiful job. I'm not fond of milk paint but it is just perfect for this piece. I also love what showed f the rest of your house... blue walls in other room and the very nice groupings of pictures in both rooms. You have a good eye. Please share more as you finish the decor. :-)
