You all gave me inspiration, so when I passed this chair for 3 days on the curb I finally knew I had to stop and rescue her. It took me 4 evenings after work to finish. This is my first time trying anything like this so please be kind with constructive criticism.
I was tossed out on the curb after being used and abused. My new mommy passed me for 3 days, she actually turned around to get a closer look at me but she did not stop. The next morning was trash pick up day and I had given up any hope of being rescued. FINALLY !!! mommy came along again and STOPPED FOR ME !!!
My new mommy thought a new dress with bright colors would perk me up.

1/2 off at Goodwill. $3.50

I had spent many a cold and rainy night outside as a chew toy.
My rattan/wicker bottom was rotten and would not safe to use. Prostheses #1 scrap plywood cut to fit.
After a good bath, Mommy scrubbed me down to remove the remaining stain and varnish. It was not much to remove but it did show all of my imperfections. All of the cracks and blemishes were filled in with
Here I am in all my naked glory and I am just in pieces about this !! LOL

A good white wash from left over interior sample paint will serve as a primer.
I am starting to feel good about myself again. My new mommy tried but she could not save one of my foot rest/support rods. Now I will have 2 new new prostheses!

Dowel rod $3.15
ACE hardware had quart size sample cans of paint in your own custom color for .99. I barely used 1/2 of the can.

Every girl need a new pair of shoes ($1.23) and a little adhesive for a custom touch $4.47. Mommy cut bias strips from the dress to make cording.
My mommy calls me her peacock chair 'cause I make a statement!
Not too bad for under $17. Now that I have tried this I see I will need a few more tools to get a better finished. project. I used sandpaper by hand and a paint brush. My next present to me willl be a sander and an electric paint gun.

I have no idea where I will put my new chair but I just had so much fun in the process!

It's a beautiful job. Especially for your first time & in only 4 evenings? Wow! You are meant to be an upcycler!
