Dramatic Transformation for Dining Table Set

My son had bought his first house! His farmhouse style dining set did not match the stunning dining room and kitchen cabinets. This gave me an opportunity to create a whole new look for his dining set.
I was struck by the elegance of Fusion Mineral paint, Coal Black. It is described as an ‘absolute jet black that can accentuate any color’. This rich shade of black could also complement many decor styles. I began to look for an opportunity to transform a piece of furniture, to create a unique, classic look.
Before, the pine stained, farmhouse style dining table just did not fit the more formal, elegant style of the dining area.
After, the tabletop is painted with the Fusion Coal Black, the table legs and chairs are stained with Minwax Poly/Shade Bombay Mahogany, graphics are added to the top of the table and script fabric recovers the chair cushions.
I used the Fusion NSWE stencil to create this graphic on the table's leaf. At each corner of the table I added the star angled toward the center of the table.
Now, the dining room looks better with the table transformation and a few accessories - this sets the stage for the decor style for the kitchen and for the living room

  • @Kathy R ...THIS is beautiful !!! I am sure your son appreciates the time and love you put into this table and chairs....I love the table top. ..The whole set looks as if its always been the finishes you chose..elegant and yet not stuffy. it beckons one to come and sit down, and enjoy any kind of meal. The only thing I would maybe consider adding is a neutral rug to balance all the wood, for some warmth and to really ' set off' the space. :)

@Shelby @ The Weathered Barn Studio Thank you, Shelby! I know he's in the market for a lot of things - a rug will definitely more define the dining area!
