How I Transformed a Boring Chair

This chair is small enough to use when crafting and sewing. The curved back gives wonderful support and encourages good posture. It just wasn't cute enough and the wrong colors for the room!

The first thing I did was to remove the seat. I selected a few colors that would complement the room's new color scheme - blue and white. I wanted an aged patina to the chair so I layered the colors in an uneven manner. There's no right or wrong here. Just enough to give the look I wished.

A little sanding here and there then finishing off with soft bee's wax was all that was needed to transform the frame of this chair.

Now the seat cushion. There were a couple of things that needed to change with this seat. It needed different fabric AND more cushion. I do sit at the sewing machine for long periods of time and the cushioned comfort was definitely needed!

I had several options in fabric for the chair. In the end, I selected this blue and white ticking fabric - I loved the vintage, simplicity of this look. A bit more cushion was added then I just stapled the fabric to the seat form and reattached the seat. NOW, it's updated and perfect for the room's new decor!

I love that I saved this chair by giving it a whole new/old look. Transforming chairs is probably one of the easiest DIY projects you can take on!
