I found these metal barstools at the thrift store, and I knew they had a lot of potential! I gave them a quick and easy makeover and now they're absolutely gorgeous. If you love this project, you can see more easy and affordable DIY ideas on my blog, Love & Renovations.

Here's a look at what the barstools looked like before I got started on them. I found them at my local Goodwill for just $10 each!

The metal on my barstools was pretty rusty, so I started by thoroughly cleaning them. I used Lime-A-Way and a scouring stick to remove all of the rust from the barstools. After I cleaned them, I rinsed them thoroughly with my hose and allowed them to dry.

The next step was to spray paint the bar stools gold. After I had painted the metal part, I cut out new seats for the stools from a 1.5" thick project board from the hardware store - you can read the full blog post for the details on how we cut the circles, but my husband created a jig for his table saw to cut them out. Once they were cut, we sanded them thoroughly to get rid of any rough edges.

After I sanded the barstool seats, I stained them and re-attached them to the barstools! This was a super quick and affordable project that added so much functionality to my space!

Did you put any padding on the seats? If not, I don't think that would b very comfortable. However, they look great & you did a nice job.

    What is a scouring stick?
