How to Paint & Repair a Corner Cupboard

Corner cupboards can be more work to do than most furniture pieces.
It can be difficult to paint towards the back because of the angles.
The easiest and quickest way is to take the back off.
This is how we purchased this unit. It had no doors and was plain boring old pine.
Because of the angles in corner units we had to pull it apart to do repairs and paint it properly.
We painted the unit with Unique Options furniture paint. We have used many brands and found UO Paint to be the easiest and most durable to use.
Backs were painted two coats of UO Opal, no sanding, masking tape was used at required distance for the stripes, and then French Blue was painted between the tape.
Once dry a light sand all over with 240grit and then splattered with Hot Chocolate, you can do this with a tooth brush or short haired bristle brush.
Backs were sealed with UO Satin Sealer to provide a durable easy to clean finish.
This was done before replacing the backs.
We put it back together made the cupboards doors and put a security mesh in them, the security mesh stays in good condition much longer than chicken wire or fly wire.
Painted with Unique Options French Blue, Opal and a Hot Chocolate splatter effect over the painted surfaces. Then sealed with satin sealer.
All UO products are Non Toxic, enviro safe, No VOC's and odourless so they can be used inside.
The transformation was amazing for this beautiful and unusual corner cupboard.

I have my mom's corner cupboard. It was painted in the '70's with some now-dated hardware added. I have been wanting to do something with it, but just didn't know what I wanted. I like this completely, colors, hardware, all of it! I know this is a silly question, but the door latch is called what? They have been around forever, and I recently bought a piece that has one, but needs a second, but I cannot remember what they are called!!? TIA.
