Buffet From a Dresser

We were given this dresser by a friend. It's a nice solid wood dresser but those detail pieces on the fron were actually plastic. I know, very odd. So we weren't quite sure what to do with it. It sat in our garage for almost a year, Until the Beard was finally like "Do something with it or it goes in the trash!" LOL So I decided to try and paint it and just see what happens.
We had seen a few pieces at furniture stores that still had the natural top and a painted bottom, and we decided that was the look we wanted.

-So we sanded the top down to the natural finish

-Taped the bottom off and stained it

-When the stain dried we polyurethaned it.
After the stain and poly dried it was time to paint the bottom.

-We cleaned the whole bottom with a degreaser

-Primed it with an oil based primer

-Then painted it Gray.
I left the handles as-is because they matched the newly stained top. I love how it turned out. it holds all of my linens, candles, and nice dishes. Very functional.
