Ikea Billy Bookcase Pantry Hack

No pantry? No problem! Our new house had a laundry room right off of the kitchen, so I used the Ikea Billy Bookcase to add a pretty, organized pantry space.
We do a lot of cooking and so a pantry was a priority for me when I started house hunting last year. I quickly found that a lot of the homes in our area and price range didn't have a pantry!

I came up with the idea to create my own pantry using something from Ikea, so I did a lot of research to decide what would be the best Ikea piece to give me the most pantry space with the least amount of handy work.

I decided to go with the Billy Bookcase with the Oxberg doors. It looks cute but is also very functional as a pantry!
The bookcase is only 11 inches deep, so it doesn't take up much space. You can move the shelves around to hold different sized items.

We are a family of 2, so this pantry has been the perfect size for us. If you have a bigger family or tend to keep more items in your pantry, you could buy a second bookcase and install it right next to the first one.
These Ikea 365+ clear containers are the perfect way to organize your dry goods! They come in several different sizes depending on your needs. Since you can adjust the heights of the shelves, any of the sizes will work. Adding a chalkboard label keeps things in order while looking cute!

I also purchased two Byholma baskets while I was at Ikea. These are another cute organization piece for your pantry. I like to keep veggies like onions or sweet potatoes in them, or smaller items that would get lost on the other shelves.
Ikea has a variety of door styles, but I liked the look of the Oxberg half-window doors. Keep the pretty items at the top and store boxes and other items down below.
In the bottom half of the pantry I keep all of my not-so-pretty items. There is plenty of room for all my cans, bottles and boxes. I made the first two shelves a bit shorter and then made the bottom one taller so I can keep bulk items down there.
If you are in need of a pantry space for your home, this is a wonderful option! It's my favorite type of Ikea hack because it's just a new way to use an item instead of having to do extra work to change up an item.

We have been using our pantry for over 6 months now and just love it! It's very functional and has held up to everyday use.

Where do you store the rest of the products that are in those little clear containers? They're cute, but those items are sold in large amounts.
