New Life for a Child's Little Stool.

This little child stool was made by my father in law for my daughter when she was a year old so she could reach the sink. Although not super sturdy, she used it or that purpose and then for sitting and playing in her room. Later I moved it to the family room and used it whenever I needed to reach something on a super high shelf so it was used a lot through the years and looked it! I decided to give it a sprucing.
New look
I first gave a very light sanding to the stool. You can see that it was pretty beat up.
Next I painted the lower body with chalk paint from my casual dining redo (see my previous post or this) in Vintage White from Poet's Paint Waterglass chalk paint. The top I stained in Antique Walnut gel stain from General Finishes. I did 2 coats of both.
I decided I wanted to add a little enhancement to it and I had a drawing on card stock which my brother hand made and given to me and I decided to use it.
I cut it out and Modgepodged it to the top of the bench. I wish the paper would have been thinner because it would have blended in better but I still liked it well enough.
I finished with 2 coats of the Polycrylic from Minwax. I lightly sanded between the 2 coats and it's now ready for use. I'll have to see how the Modge Podged flower holds up but it's pretty attached and protected by the Polycrylic. It didn't cost me anything as it was all stuff I had.
