I've been wanting to paint something with the ombre technic. I even bought the paint months ago at Joann's Fabric when it was on clearance. I know I should have used house paint but didn't want to spend alot on paint if it didn't turn out. Well several months later I found the perfect piece to paint.

Every year for my birthday my sweet husband takes me to my favorite antique store La Bodega in Parkville, Mo. It never disappoints. It was in the third booth I looked in. I knew that was the one. I wanted to put something in our kitchen to hold cookie sheets, cake pans etc. It was in pretty good condition for $35.00. I use to be able to get a piece like it at our local thrift store for less. Well not anymore. They have raised the prices so high. Now to get started.

Here it is in my kitchen.

I had to nail a few of the drawer bottoms in place. I wiped it down with mild soap and water and removed the knobs. I got out my bottles of paint in put them in the order I would be using them. Starting with the lightest to the darkest. Starting with the top two drawers.

My four bottles of blue paint.

I painted the top two drawers and moved on to the second drawer.

Three down two to go.

I painted the last two drawers and waited for it to dry. I needed to put at least another coat on it.

Waiting for paint to dry.

I didn't like how light the paint was on the top drawers. So I added a little bit of the darkest paint to the lightest paint until I got the shade I wanted. I gave each of the drawers another coat of paint. I let it dry completely before putting the knobs back on.

All done and already in use.

When it gets warmer I plan to spray paint the knobs. Until then the knobs will have to stay unpainted. It turned out just how I invisioned it. It will look alot nicer up against the kitchen wall after I get my kitchen painted in the spring. Yes of course it will be painted blue. I bought the paint over a month ago. It is a beautiful shade of aqua. I even sewn new curtains and valances already. And yes I couldn't wait so I already hung them up. Can you imagine Christmas around my house.😊
