I always wanted a French provincial china cabinet for my combined living/dining room as a centerpiece to hold several curios items and the tv. It didn’t take long to find one nearby for sale on craigslist for $50.
Once my friend and I lugged it home, I started work on the top half. After scrubbing down the accumulated filth as this was sitting in a cellar for eons, I removed all the doors on the top part as well as the large center shelf.
Then came the fun part: painting. For primer/base, Kilz2 (water-based) and color, Behr’s Forever Denim with bright white as contrast. As if I didn’t have enough to do, decided to put up a fabric background which I plastered with Mod Podge Furniture. PS: I’m still working on it.

The bottom cabinet was the hardest in that I messed it up. After using the basecoat and paint on the drawers and doors, STUPIDLY, I added Minwax Polycrylic water-based clear matte. It came out cloudy. Through the excellent advice on the discussion board, sanded all the drawer fronts and painted it once again. It came out well.

It fits in beautifully with my furniture as well as a conversation piece.
