Driving around during bulk trash pickup day in nearby neighborhoods I find all kinds of things. This little vintage hutch was just sitting there calling my name. I got it home and it needed work as expected but not too much, no major rebuilding or anything. First I took it all apart and cleaned it up with TSP. I took the glass out to make painting easier. I really wanted to add a light and replace the wood shelves with glass shelves but I am all about spending as least as possible and using what I have on hand. I have an abundance of paint and other supplies, I will wash out a brush until it falls apart, that being said I pay a little more for my brushes because they last longer and paint better. I like purty brand brushes the most. I painted everything a stormy grey except the drawers and doors and inside of cabinet, I did those in a bright white. I waxed everything except the shelves, I used water based poly acrylic for those to make sure things set on it would wipe easily off and not leave marks. Everything went really smoothly with this project. It is definitely one of the easier projects I have done. The only thing with painting projects is you must give yourself time for paint and wax and things like that to dry, do not try to rush the process It only makes for more work in the long run. This piece received 4 coats of paint I let each coat dry 24 hours, and I lightly sand in between coats with a soft sanding block. I spray painted the hardware a dark metal color. I hope you enjoy. I have added pictures of the table and chairs that I did to go with this hutch. The whole set came together so wonderfully. I was givin the tables and chairs for free but had not gotten around to doing anything with them. I had a client ask about the hutch and then wanted to know if I had a table and chair set. I dug these out and they flowed together nicely. She was very happy with everything.
Before

I like this wax. Available at Walmart
I painted the doors all white, even the inset design, I then painted grey in the inset. After it dried I ran sandpaper over it to get the white to show thru.
