Spray Paint A Vintage Vanity Stool
The metallic paint and unique fabric I put together for the vintage vanity stool were made for each other. You will be surprised at the fabric I used!
Wow, copper metallic spray paint is really eye-catching. I very seldom use spray paint on furniture but this small piece turned out great.
I bought the vanity stool at the junk shop. It had no foam or fabric and the wood seat unattached to the base.
I cleaned the stool then spray painted it with my new favorite spray paint, Rustoleum Bright Coat Copper Metallic.
The wood veneer was missing from the chair back and the wood took up the paint in various ways which gives the stool a cool look.
I cut a piece of piece of foam to fit the seat from a foam wedge in my junk stash.
For extra sturdiness I covered the foam and wood seat with a double layer of off-white fabric.
The fabric is a skirt I spotted at Goodwill for $5. Loved it and couldn't resist.
I cut the fabric to fit the newly padded and covered seat. You guys have read my how to recover a chair seat tutorials so I won’t go into all of that. If not you can find a tutorial on how to recover a chair seat with video here.
It takes only about 5 minutes to cover a chair seat.
Attach the seat to the stool with 4 screws and Ta-Dah! I can’t help loving the glitz with the metallic copper and the gold sequins.

I’ve had this exact stool for years and have the material and foam to re-do it but wasn’t sure how to go about it. I’ll definitely watch your tutorial and re-consider my original plan to re-paint it white. Thanks!
