Table Makeover With Liquid Wood
This is my second time using the “Retique It Liquid Wood” product to give a veneer table a lighter wood finish. This stuff is great for adding a layer of real word on any hard surface that is stainable. Because my kitchen table wasn’t real world, I couldn’t just sand it down to get the lighter finish I was desiring.
Table BEFORE. This dark cherry wood showed every crumb, smear, and fingerprint.
Retique at Liquid Wood is made out of 66% recycled real wood that you can paint on without sanding or stripping.
After my first coat of liquid wood.
After my third coat of liquid wood I used the graining tool to make it look more realistic. Then, used Retique It “Pecan” colored stain. It’s important to note that you cannot use penetrating stains with liquid wood, only gel stains.
Next I layered the “weathered wood” colored stain color to neutralize some of the gold tones. Pictured you can see half the table with the gray color and a half without.
Products used:
Light Wood Liquid Wood
Pecan Stain
Weathered Wood Stain
Polycrylic Seal
The finished the table! Don’t forget to seal it well! I used 4 coats of polyacrylic.
It looks much lighter on the side where the light comes in!
