Does anyone else feel like they can't relax if their space doesn't look good or how they want it to? I'm hoping I'm not the only one with that issue! I've been house sitting for my father for a couple of months and let's just say he his decoration style is "older" with no rhyme or reason. Since he won't let me paint or change any of his furniture (crazy right?), I decided to do a temporary fix to better cope with my "issue".

Before pic

Since discovering contact paper, I am hooked. I love how quickly and easily you can change something and if it doesn't work out or you don't like the way it looks, you can just remove or replace it.

So on I go to revamp the world with contact paper......I started by removing the glass shelving inside.

Once the shelves were out, I measured the three spaces on the back of the unit and cut my contact paper. I cut the paper a bit bigger then the measurements to have some room for error. I then started on the left hand side smoothing the paper with a credit card as I went along. A few times I had to pull it back to straighten out where the paper was going. Once it was smoothed out, I used a utility knife to trim the excess.

Once all three panels were done, I put the shelves back in.

I added some décor items and here it is! Not a major change, but something we both can live with. Next project will be his dining table, stay tuned :)

I can't stand dated stuff. I'm 68 and there is always time for a change. I share my ideas with my son 44 and my daughter 41. And they share theirs with me. I don't follow trends. Just what I like. Your update is great, subtle, and lively. Slight change gives character. I hope your dad likes it and maybe lets you do other things.

Thank you William, I definitely would've preferred to paint it but I agree it did liven it up at least. My father is in his 80's but as far back as I can remember he's always had dated stuff and lots of it lol.
