Terracotta Kitchen Remodel

South Cypress
by South Cypress
When Shari bought her adorable 1959 Cape Cod home after moving from the south of France, she knew she wanted to make some changes to make the kitchen her own.

Although the original kitchen had character and charm of a 50s home-it had grown outdated, and Shari wanted to create a space similar to the terracotta style she enjoyed while living in France.
The previous kitchen featured vinyl flooring and a vinyl backsplash. To create her ideal kitchen, Shari knew she would have to replace the flooring, counter, appliances, sink, and backsplash.
Shari replaced the existing counter with a new speckled quartz countertop and added a new under-mounted sink. She kept the original cherry cabinetry but added a new lacquer job to get them to the right color.
For the flooring, Shari decided on this beautiful Super Saltillo 12 x 12 flooring from South Cypress. The floor is exactly what Shari was looking for, and it really sets the tone for the kitchen.
The new kitchen looks phenomenal! The light blue cabinets complement the rustic clay colored flooring beautifully-creating a cozy and warm feel! The only thing left to finish is the backsplash, which she plans on completing in the coming weeks.
We love this unique kitchen table in the dining area; it completes the look of a kitchen that could be right out of a home in Southern France! For anyone considering a similar project, Shari recommends doing your homework and making sure that you find contractors who will do high-quality work. She says the extra dollars you may spend will be worth it, and the end result will look spectacular for a lifetime!

Well glad she's happy with it. Love the counter and now I know I don't want blue cupboards. To much blue for me.
