I’ve been looking for an idea to go above my coffee station... I found this shelving unit and metal tray at Goodwill....let the fun begin!!!😃
First, I took shelving unit apart. I filled in cracks and holes with wood filler. After dry, I sanded wood.
I painted entire piece with semI-gloss-rust-ol-eum black paint, sanded between coats (2) Next I reassembled shelf. Note: I used cardboard box to stick hooks and screws in to aid in painting. You could also use styrofoam.
The metal tray was cleaned with soap and water. I used Martha Stewart chalk paint. (3) coats Be sure to let paint dry completely between coats. I waited overnight to do last coat.
Supplies used: sand paper, semi- gloss rust-ol-eum black paint, Martha Stewart 6 oz chalkboard paint and various brushes, wood filler (not pictured)
I had most of the supplies on hand. I bought Chalkboard paint at Michaels.
On sale for $5.

Here are the finished pics. The tray says
“SIP, SIP HOORAY!
Completed look! I hadn’t written on the chalk tray. I can change sentiment for each season. I’m really happy with the result.
