I‘ve had this vintage chair for at least 20 years. As you can see in the before picture I obviously liked animal prints as many of my household decorations from back then were in a variety animal prints. These days I’m all about the demin. I prefer to use recycled demin from old jeans and dresses, but I found this adorable daisy print light demin and had to buy it.
I believe this is the last Item from my jungle days!
This is what it looked like in its former years. There were 4 large bolts holding the chair back onto the base that was easy to get at from underneath. The cardboard piece is from the back of the chair and the button sitting on top of the cardboard is also from the chair back.
I measured and cut the fabric to size and added a little extra so that I could pull it under and staple. The piece for the cardboard for the back of the chair was glued to the cardboard with a glue gun.
I cut a small piece of fabric to cover the button which goes in the back of the chair. I used a dab of glue to the back of the button and folded the fabric around the back.
Just a view of the chair back and button finished!
After fitting the fabric to the chair pieces, I sewed the sides of the chair bottom and pulled it on with about 2 inches left so that I can staple it underneath. The chair back did not require sewing only staples.
The button was pulled through the front of the chair with a large needle, then the thread was stapled to the wood frame. The cardboard back was then stapled with my brad nailer so that the nails were hardly visible.
Here is a view of the back of the chair. This was a really easy project that brought a new life to an outdated chair.
