Our 1997 house has all the original everything. Like EVERYTHING, including the dated light fixtures. Over time I've been putting together our small entryway, adding fresh paint, a black door and waiting to find the perfect light fixture to replace the floral inspired one that neglected to 'wow'.

Pendant lights are so fun and the idea of a basket pendant light excited me (it clearly doesn't take much). I kept my eyes peeled and after a month or so found the PERFECT basket at none other than Home Goods. After a little finagling it was ready to hang!

Let's just say I didn't include the process for hanging because that ended up taking like 2 hours and my arms were so pathetically sore. But here is the tutorial for the actual basket and adding the light⬇

I had purchased this pendant light months ago, just waiting for the perfect match.

And this basket was IT. This basket was literally perfection! The 2 tones and the arches just did it for me.

Step 1

I flipped the basket upside down as that would be how it hung from the ceiling. Using my drill I created a hole dead center to feed the wire of the oendant light through. Then I sawed off the handles and sanded them smooth so that they werent noticeable when the basket was hung.

I took out my pendant light and panicked because the wire was wayyy too long. If it hung too low the door would hit it everytime it opened. And then I realized wire cutters exist for a reason🤣. I measured how low the basket could hang and placed a piece of tape to mark where the wires would be cut.

Well I don't actually have wire cutter so I used an exacto (would not recommend btw, wire cutters were invented for a reason😂).

After cutting, I took off the top part that would attach to the ceiling in order to feed the wire through the pre-drilled hole in the basket. Then I fed the wires through and replaced the top piece.

After the 2 hour struggle to hang the light, it looks awesome! Creating the pendant light was really easy once I found the right basket. I would highly recommend if you want to make something completely you and 100% unique.
