I made a pendant light a couple of weeks ago and had some left over material, which gave me another idea. I bought a light fixture for $14 with the intention of putting it at the top of my staircase, when it arrived it was too nice for that project so I decided to put it in the garage and make something else. I still had the light bulbs and the fixture (now what) . Idea 💡 the living room! Our home was build in 1929, the wiring is either nonexistent or just wrong. Being a fan of lamps it really didn’t bother me that the living room had no over head lighting.

Now I had a light fixture maybe I can fix that.

So I ask my husband to take out all the electrical stuff out of the light fixture/pendant including where the bulb gets screwed in, so I can add the chain and the rechargeable light bulb. It was tedious for him but he did it.

This is before I spray painted it

I know some people will say it’s nice like this and they would be right, however, it’s not the look I was going for. I wanted something lighter in color.

After I spray painted it gold.

If you saw my other pendant I had 2 shades of gold spray paint , on this project I used the lighter gold.

This is what it looked like with the lightbulb I had on hand.I would have to take it out to turn it on and It clearly doesn’t look nice. Plan B. Do some research.

And here is it. A rechargeable lightbulb. I used a gold color marker to cover the orange, most of the white and a bit of the silver hook.

How can you not love this invention. It has 4 different color modes and get this, IT HAS A TIMER😃 . Simple things makes me happy (this is one of them). Moving on!

Light not on yet

This is the final look. Notice no electrical wires. You will have to unhook the bulb to charge it.

Light on! Doesn’t really look that great in the picture. Just like the other pendant , looks better in reality!

The hardest part of this project was removing the hardwire. Because I wasn’t sure I wanted to keep the light fixture or not! Other than that it was easy. I might Velcro the remote next to the front door.

Daylight !
