The Easiest Project I've Ever Posted--Modern Pendant Lights

When it came time to choose bedside lighting after I built us new nightstands a few months ago, I knew I wanted something different. Standard lamps were not doing it for me…unless I was willing to pay the big bucks…and I wasn’t.
I had seen people do pendant lights beside the bed, but I knew I wasn’t going to talk Danny into agreeing to hang two new lights from the ceiling. Plus, we still haven’t decided where we want to permanently place the bed. But, I was stuck on pendant lights. I had to have them. And they had to be easily moved if we decided to move the bed.
So I came up with a solution! Check out the blog post below for details on where I found my plug in pendant lights. Once I got them, I screwed a scrap board into a stud in the wall and wrapped the cord around it.
Then I screwed the bulb in. Details on the bulbs can be found in the blog post below as well. I LOVE them.
Then, I plugged them in and they were good to go.
Cheap, simple, and fun. They really add some character to our bedroom. And the light they put off it really good. The best part is that they are easy to take down and move if you get tired of them or move your bed.
I know this was a super simple little project, but I wanted to share. Several people saw them on my home tour on Hometalk Live a few weeks ago and loved them. Hopefully you do too. Or you could be like my mom and think they are weird…it’s cool. To each his own : )

Keep your eyes out for more projects to come. I’ve got several in the pipeline and they’ll be coming at you soon!

I am all for "what ever works". I might widen the boards and/or put a hole in them to hold a cone style flower. You have started my brain spinning with ideas. Now you have me thinking I will use two old brass candle holding wall sconces for my bedroom lights. You can pick them up cheaply at second-hand stores and spray paint. The nice thing is if light weight you can just use picture hooks to hang them on the wall. You might want to use a cable holder or cup hook on a flat surface so the cord cannot slip off and break the bulb.
