After I finished my Breakfast Room , My Husband thought it would be a Great idea to paint my kitchen cabinets white , and use The Red Retro knobs and Drawer pulls. I Must admit I have never been fond of a white kitchen. But mine is so small , That for the first time in my life I said yes to White.. And I sure am glad I did . The Before pictures are the day we moved in , and then a transformation , not even I saw coming .. I am beyond Pleased at how it turned out.
The Day we moved in , Not very impressed , But was very grateful to have our own Home once again .
Small Narrow Galley Kitchen , But I Love the functionality of it . It is a breeze to cook in. And I really Liked it.. Buttttttt... We already changed the adjoining room ( Breakfast Room) So what we did made sense ..
Now it is Brighter and Cheerier, And I feel Great working in there.
Changed the lamp to match .. Just tore stripes of material and tied one up , and then one down . Worked out great ..
Made valences Out of the Buffalo Check material , added some Popcorn containers and a few apples .. I love apples ..
Knobs ..
It seems so much bigger ..
I removed 2 sliding cabinet doors , and made curtains and used a tension rod to hang them .
Painted the makeshift shelf , That I made out of an old Vanity .
Even Made a Matching Apron . Found the Coffee pot on Amazon.. I always wanted one of those..
This was a Labor of love , It was a lot of ladder work , (for me) and a bunch of sitting on the floor . My Husband took the doors out to the garage and painted them out there. I did the trim work and the cabinet frames . We will enjoy this for many years to come .. We used Scotch Bright Sanding pads ( The Burgundy ones) . They were easier than sand paper or steal wool. Then we washed down the cabinets with warm water to remove the dust. ( Just a FYI ) remove or cover all appliances before sanding .. Dust gets in and on everything . We used 2 coats of kilz for cabinets , and 2 coats HGTV Home Paint for the cabinets .. Roller for the flat wide surfaces , and a small brush for the smaller areas . That was the best paint I ever used .. New Spring self closing hinges , and New Retro Chrome and Red Handles and Drawer pulls .. We love the outcome
I Removed to sliding doors , and hung curtians with tension rods .
