I wouldn't recommend this. A Corian countertop usually doesn't need any type of sealing, etc. I am afraid it might peel and cause problems if you add poly to it.
I have an old kitchen with an ugly yellow Formica countertop. It's not in the budget for a new kitchen....so, any ideas to change the look would really be appreciated...

Why would you want to? Corian is already a low maintenance. Why junk it up with paint?
NO NO NO!!! DO NOT EVEN TRY THIS! Corian is an extremely dense plastic and the poly can dissolve it. Trust me, you do NOT want to do that!

If it is indeed Corian, it is very expensive.
What lead you to have this idea in the first place?
I prefer a shinier finish...
