How do I remove this countertop seal?
I am resurfacing the countertops in our mobile home. I want to know if I can remove this hideous seal. How do I remove it and what do I replace it with?

That looks like a caulk strip. If so, yes you can remove it. You may have to clean off any excess caulk adhered to the wall and counter top. You could cut some wood trim to cover any opening between the counter and the wall. Maybe you won't need anything once it is removed. Hard to tell from the picture.
I agree, it's caulk. You can remove it with a putty knife. When it's all off, you can recaulk.

They also make a silicon caulk remover you can buy at the hardware store if it doesn't budge.
in a mobile home that is a rubber strip which fills the gap between the wall and counter. it is usually stapled to the edge of the countertop between the wall and the counter. You can carefully (using a box knife) score between the wall and the strip and then score under the strip along the countertop, then carefully pry under the strip from the countertop. it takes time but it will work.
Try softening it first with a hair dryer.
Looks like it's a peel and stick tub sealer. Use a blow dryer to soften it and a putty knife to peel it off. Use rubbing alcohol to remove any adhesive residue. Then you can caulk with a tub and tile caulk. Somebody was looking for a quick fix and didn't want ti use caulk.

Yes, you can use caulk after you remove it. I first put folded cardboard in the wide gaps and then caulked. This worked for me. Good Luck
