Yes ! I had Formica butcher block going in the wrong direction ! I used a de greaser & a de glosser , both by Krud Kutter ,( about $6 for each spray bottle ) then I used a sanding sponge and lightly scuffed the countertops . I used advance paint by Benjamin Moore and their primer , ( about $40 each ) I used 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint . you must allow each coat to dry thoroughly before starting the next coat . Also the room must not be too cold . Now , the only drawback ... You need to let it cure for about a week and a half !!!! My countertops have held up well , but I always use a cutting board and a trivet for hot pots or bakeware . After about 3 years , I put down another coat of paint ( there was plenty left over ) after I stupidly
used a saw to cut something on my countertop ... Good luck !!!

Could you cover it with contact paper?
You might be able to get a professional to come a polish it out
Has it damaged it just cosmetically or is it more severe? You could just paint the laminate. Check out Giani kits on Amazon
