You could think about using vinyl wallpaper or contact paper on the faces. There are some great ones around that look like reclaimed wood, etc. I ordered some great hardware online for my cabinets that were about 1/10th the cost of HD, etc.
I would use bead board wall paper with trim around it and paint then in white or black or what ever color you choose and add new drawer and cabinet pulls and you can also use it as a back splash and heres are some photo to help start you make over.🤔
You could add lathe around the edges to give them a shaker style look, then paint them with a high quality paint. Voila, a new look with little expense.
add an accent of the stove and on the counter tops add accents from kirklands
also add a long rug, I'm guessing that it's a galley style kitchen?
As for me, I'd find a great stencil I liked and paint the doors all the same color then stencil over. You can find stencils in many styles to fit your theme from nature to cooking to modern motifs. It will bring the whole room into focus.
Look up at the Hometalk logo, and Search, "painting particle board." There are some wonderful ideas there!
If you're going to paint them (and i agree it quick and budget friendly ) take the time to read tutorials on painting partical board. Take your time doing research and then dive in slowly. Good luck!
