How do I remove polyurethane from my cabinets?
How do I proceed? so that I may paint them. I'm a senior on a very limited budget. Need to do this myself.

there is no need to remove it, clean them very well, a light sanding then paint, take your time do one or two cabinets a day, store your painting tools by wrapping them in plastic and putting in the freezer, hope this helps xx
Hi. Yep a light sanding, but I love chalky paint, has great coverage, and beautiful matte colors. And you can use the wax or polyurethane again.
If you don't want to take your cupboards down invest in froggy tape. It's a little spendy but there'll be no bleed through and will not pull up the paint. Tape over all the hardware, unless of course you dont want to.
I'm also a senior and I'm very careful about climbing, if you don't have a good, tall enough step ladder I suggest getting one. I got a great one at home depot for about $20.00. But you'll have it for years.
I hope it all goes well.🙂
Clean them with tsp (trisodiumphoaphate) it's sold in the paint dept. Use a good primer. If you actually cook in your kitchen, chalk paint is not a good choice. It wont stand up to scrubbing
