How do i strip stained cabinet doors from 2006?
We recently purchased a house built in 2006 and the cabinets have not been taken care of. They are dirty and out of style. I would like to redo the entire kitchen starting with the cabinets/counter tops. Just not sure where to start.

try Annie Sloan paint. This stuff is amazing... no prep necessary! (just be sure to remove hinges and handles -- you may even want to update the handles -- just make sure the thread distance of your new ones is the same -- or you'll have to put in new hole and patch/sand)

I would start by cleaning the cabinets first with Krudkutter or degreaser/deglosser of your choice and then sand the cabinets. They can be covered with luan/1/4 inch plywood pieces cut to fit to cover the entire door or in strips that cover designs in the wood. I turned my cabinets into a shaker style by using 3 inch strips that my lumber supplier cut for me. I glued, nailed, primed and painted the doors. They look beautiful. Cover anything that you don't want painted when doing the countertops using Rustoleum or other company products designed for the same purpose. Good luck and enjoy what you are able to do for your kitchen.
Give these photos a look, this will help you decide what you really want. Then purchase Citristrip, stripping gel. Once they started making this product I haven't used any other brand. It's great and even smells great!
