Do you want tile? You can tile directly on the drywall. Or remove drywall and put up hardiBacker. Then mortar and set tile. Let dry overnight and grout! You'll have to cut tiles around outlets and corners. This can be time consuming but the finished product will be worth the effort!

First, I check out various 'looks' that I like - colors, textures, shapes n' stuff. Then I measure to get how many square feet of backsplash I want covered. The material you choose will determine how the work is done. The edges are always caulked.

WE went to Lowes and bought backsplash to match our kitchen decor. They are easy to use and all the instructions make it very easy to prepare the kitchen wall ahead etc. We were selling our house and some grease had splashed from our teens working in the kitchen. This covered it quickly and cheaply. It looked really nice. See Lowes, Menards, or Home Depot

Go to Homedepot, they give classes on all sorts of home improvement projects. Call them and see when will be the next one. They run these classes frequently. They want you to buy their merchandise, so they give classes on everything. Good Luck!
