How to incorporate with other part of kitchen??

We had to redo this side of the kitchen to add in the new range hood. Now it looks nothing like the rest of the kitchen. How do we go about tying it all together? Any and every suggestion would mean a lot to me!

I would add cabinets over the range hood. You can get premade ones at a builders surplus or Home Depot.

Instead of buying cabinets just buy the doors and stain them to look like your other cabinets. Or... install a piece of plywood with an open shelf to hold collectables. Instead of staining use a textured covering like brick or tin squares.

Cabinets over the range and on each side of the range. Try to match countertop or use butcher block. Similar backsplash.

Keep in mind that accessing anything stored in the cabinets will not be easy due to having to climb up and reach over the rang hood.

Also, the cabinets, being located above the stove, will not be easy to keep clean; for although the hood fan will remove some of the grease and moisture, a considerable amount will still cling to the cabinets.

If you do not absolutely need the storage space, my recommendation is to just cover the space with drywall and paint the same color as your other walls.

Are you going to be covering the drywall around the stove back with any backsplash type material, such as tiles? or are you planning to just keep in only painted?

Stainless steel is an easy-to-clean material that could cover the entire area.

Here are a couple of examples:

Do you have other cabinets in your kitchen? If so go with some open shelving. I understand it is more for looks then function but would balance the range hood.

Wall paint color and a unifying backsplash could be the unifying tie in that you might wish to consider.

I think open shelving (with chunky wood) would look really nice. You could keep dishes on them

  • Could you put a wall microwave above the stove? That is what we did.
