There are tutorials galore available on YouTube and Pinterest for all different methods. Chalk paint seems to be the easiest option as it requires no prep such as sanding prior to use (do clean the cabinets thoroughly first!). Use a sealer as your final coat if using chalk paint to protect the new finish. Several years ago I painted my kitchen island and bathroom cabinets using exterior satin finish paint. Clean & sand cabinet surfaces lightly first. I put on 2 coats. It’s holding up well - no nicks, peeling paint or issues of any sort.

Hi there, I would use ESP as a primer and then use a Satin finish paint. Better finish that gloss....

I am planning to paint my kitchen cabinets today. I have talked to several people who painted their cabinets and they used TSP to clean the cabinets first. This product strips anything like oil’s and dirt and layers of varnish. Once your cabinets are clean then add a coat of a good quality primer like Kilz 2

I want to paint my kitchen cabinets too - but first I have to finish up several other projects around the house I’ve started! I promised myself I wouldn’t start another project until previous projects were complete!

Enjoy your ‘new’ kitchen, I’m sure it will look great when you’re all done!!!

Hello again, ESP is (Easy Surface Preparation) No need to rub down! (even paint on top of Formica) . It is a covering paint that allows you to paint anything after using it as a primer! Available at DIY's. Hope that helps!
