Hello Sylvia! What you choose to do will depend on your color scheme in your kitchen. Look at your flooring, your paint color, your counter tops, your appliance color and think about what you'd like to see in any decor change. You can paint your cabinets any color you'd like! White, cream, navy blue, black and gray are neutrals, but there are some other pretty colors you might enjoy. I have seen turquoise, pink, yellow, purple, and a few more! It's all about what you are trying to achieve! The first time I painted my kitchen cabinets I went with a dark cranberry red and I loved them! Then I went to a light gray, and now I have a charcoal gray on the bottom and a white on the top. Love that too! Check out Pinterest for cabinet colors-there's LOTS of pictures. Here's a Hometalk sample of different ways you can change your cabinets!

What color are your counter tops? If they are dark, then I'd stick with a light gray. If they are light, then maybe a darker gray.

A picture or letting us know what colors are already in your kitchen would be very helpful. What type of decor do you have?

I find a textured spray paint worked in my bathroom. I went with a stone look so there are different shades of gray and white in it.

  • You can go with any color as long as you prime them!

I would think grey if you have black tones. If not, white with a brown glaze.

  • Do you have a photo of the kitchen? If they're a white wash, they're probably a lighter color, so you may want to stick to light if it goes with the rest of your kitchen.

    Hello there,

Maybe pastel grey or green or cream or duck egg blue. Best wishes.

Hi Sylvia, so much depends on what other colors you have going in your kitchen. The kitchen will feel more chohesive if you stay in the same color family. Make a note of what color your countertops are, your flooring, and any other large items you're keeing, then select a color you like that works well with those items. Do you mostly have brown tones or grey/black tones? The color choice is entirely ours and often a bold selection makes you hapy and is an asset. Some pretty combinations can be done by painting and then applying a dark glaze over the top, some people like a metallic look, anything goes, it's what you prefer and pleases you. Maybe a solid white since you're tired of he "white-wash" look.

How about a gray or navy?
