My kitchen walls have dark brown paneling how can I do a makeover with out having to take this down because the cabinets are attached over it and it is too much for me to do

Jody, your easiest and least expensive way would be to paint. Here's a lot of pictures for you to pick the color you like. Let me know if this helps.

Jody, paneling can be painted. You will still see the grooves, but I think that look is interesting. Just be sure to prime it with Kilz before painting.
White wash it
Paint that paneling. Clean it well and prime it to make sure the paint sticks. You will probably need to paint each groove with a paint brush, but it will look gorgeous when you finish. Very cottage-y.
