I would consider two options. First, paint. Consider two-tone paint with a darker color on the bottom, and lighter on the top, for some interest. You can also add molding, either as a frame around the door edges, flat to look like a shaker door front, or pulled on a few inches. Medalions can be interesting too. Don’t forget how much interesting hardware can change a look. Lastly, and this might sound strange, change your wall paint. Depending on the tone of wood, wall paint can make the cabinets look very different, that and maybe hardware, should help you change the look.

You could use half-round trim to create a shape to be attached to the front of your cabinet doors. You could attach them with brad nails or glue.

Theresa has the right idea. I had very plain old cabinets too and I added 1 inch molding about 2 inches inside the edges of the doors and painted everything. It still looks good after 15 years.
