No chandelier in the dining room

In our new house we want a long table by the large window in our large family room. There is no ceiling electrical box for a chandelier in this space. I would rather not hang a chandelier with a chain to an outlet. Any suggestions for 'out of the ordinary' dining room lighting?

You can hardwire the chandelier into the ceiling. The chain/wire from ceiling to the light will be the only thing hanging. No draping to the wall or outlet.

Run it thru the attic space. This is not expensive. Around $200. They will make a junction box up there and put in a switch box on the wall. Not hard at all!

Hang a wooden ladder or thick tree branches and weave battery operated string lights thru them. Always consult an electrician if you plan to hardware a fixture

Look for a chandelier that has a long cord that you can plug into an outlet on the wall which can be hung from the ceiling on a hook. The cord that is hung has a decorative chain on it. My mother had one and it looked great in her home.

Add sconces to the wall, then just candles on the table.
