In a few months time my apartment is going to be renovated. We have a living room connected with a dining room. However we do not need a dining room so is there any ideas of how to make use of the space?

my dad purchased a huge (like a built in style) entertainment center to seperate the rooms leaving space on both sides to enter the other room, then he installed a sort of green room with a fish pond and lots of plants, a sitting area to read, etc. I would have used it for a computer/office area, though.

A reading area, comfy chairs with footstools and lamps. No TV. Just a place to curl up and rest.

I agree making the space into a retreat of sort. Plants, a little music, a soft carpet, and comfortable seating.

How about adding some cabinets for storage, a desk or counter, then put up some shelves and make it into an office area. You could decorate in any style you choose.

These are all good ideas - In your home, what are you missing? A private space? Crafting? Library? Office? Treasuredchaos' idea is terrific to separate the room and if you need the light from it, use one of those open ended shelving unit things.

You have great ideas above, however, you could make it multi-functional...some space for office, and blend the rest between your kitchen and living areas. You can't go wrong with extra seating and occasional tables.
