Then get some new hardware and handles (you can buy bulk packs ar Home Depot or Lowes) and voilà -- "new" kitchen!
Can't really advise how to change till we know what there is now. Please post pictures.
Changing out the knobs is easy, in expensive, and makes a huge impact!

You can also remove the doors and paint the inside a color or various colors. There's a big trend now to remove all or most doors and just use as an open cabinet system. Personally I'd keep a few doors because all cabinets just aren't tidy.
Here is how I transformed mine: https://thehoneycombhome.com/painting-kitchen-cabinets/
Glass fronts will keep things clean while providing an open view.
Open shelving is fine for items used regularly, but are real dust collectors, otherwise.
New drawer front options are shaker style or beadboard ( cleaner lines and easier to clean than highly ornamented cabinets), well painted cabinets in lighter colors, new pulls and knobs, interior cabinet lighting, pull out shelves in base cabinets, drawers instead of base cabinet doors, if you have the know how or finances to change existing cabinets.
Refacing them can make a huge difference! https://bachelorettepadflip.com/2018/01/05/flip-5-kitchen-update/
Thanks, Everyone. It’s quite a small galley kitchen with good infrastructure (pull out shelves, quiet close drawers) but I don’t care for the color or knobs. A professional wanted $3K to paint them, $8K to replace. I’m sure his quality would be excellent, but the quotes are beyond what I want to spend. Based on what you’ve shared, I think I can tackle myself.
Hell Becky,
Change the Handles, Change the Colour, Add Trims, Board over to make flush, Use one colour on the top units and another on the base units, take the top cabinets down and just have open shelves or take the doors off to give you just shelves . Have fun!
