How do I update the kitchen cabinets in my mobile home?

I am wondering the same thing ? The cabinets in our mobile home are of course poor quality, out dated, have the most hideous hardware, and have some water damage. The countertops are a horrible mauve pinkish color. We have allot of work to do on the whole home and have very little money. So the things that are still functional like cabinets are low priority to my husband, but I have to look at the kitchen and can't stand it! I have looked on Pinterest etcetera 4 ideas but they are all for higher quality cabinets. The next challenge is what to do with the backsplash it is the prefab pre wallpapered ( very busy pattern) finish. I'm thinking about chalkboard paint? For either the cabinets for the walls / backsplash. My thinking is that even if it doesn't turn out perfectly it's chalkboard paint and it doesn't need to be perfect??? I am going to continue looking for answers and inspiration please get in touch maybe we can figure this out together!? One thing that I found helped was simply removing the hardware! Would love to hear any ideas... Marcie, marciegaebel@gmail.com

Yes - replace the hardware! And a coat of paint does wonders! If you are looking to repaint - I recently discovered Oil Bond (you can get it here on Amazon https://amzn.to/2wGmiNO) where you rub this first on your cabinets. This helps the paint stick so you DON'T NEED TO SAND!! Also add a bit of Oil Bond to your paint. I would also spend a bit more for specific cabinet paint to ensure a smooth finish. I recently did this on my bathroom vanity and it turned out fantastic! Here are my pics of my project: https://wp.me/pUbK5-yRy

I would paint them and replace the hardware. Paint is the easiest and cheapest way to update anything. Grey or white are very popular colors now. Also, you might consider cutting the center rectangle on one or two and putting in glass. It is just a thought.
