How do I choose the right backsplash?

My laminate countertops look like swirly tan, brown and black marble. My cubards are stained a cocoa brown. My kitchen is quite large and I really don’t want the expense of tile. Any ideas for me?

I have a large kitchen 25 X 15 with L shaped counters. I used tin from American Tin Company and it was cheaper than good quality ceramic tile and easier to put in. Easy to clean up too.

You can have a local counter top shop, make a 3, 3.5, or 4" backsplash in the same exact laminate color for you. They will take all the measurements, and the day they come, they are done with the install in about an hour. If you are not talking about the backsplash, because a lot of people incorrectly call the wall a backsplash, they also can loosen the bottom screws of the upper cabinets, and glue laminate directly to the wall. In this case, with well over 1,000 colors and patterns, you could find a solid "contrasting color", and have them install that. Commercially, there are many types and brands of high pressure laminate sold. They come as large as 5' wide, by 20 ft. long. Also, they come in different finishes, such as a gloss finish, (not my favorite), matte finishes, textured, metal finishes such as copper, brushed aluminum, gold metal, finishes that look like slate. Some of the brand names include: Formica, Wilson Art, (gorgeous colors), Pionite, and others. The installer /cabinet maker, will have rings that have samples on it. Do yourself a favor, and deal direct with those companies, because it is where the Home Stores are going to go and order anyway. Then you pay extra for the stores' "service".

I just recently put up a peel & stick wallpaper as my backsplash and absolutely love it!!! I used the subway tiles, but there are many different styles to choose from. I shared it here if you'd like to check it out http://beautyforasheshome.com/faux-subway-tile-backsplash/

Peel & Stick 3D tiles! They look and even feel real. 2 contractors told me they never would have known if I hadnt told them. I used subway tiles but there are many options. I used Tic Tac Tiles.
