Kitchen color schemes

Suzanne Pickens on Aug 10, 2016I put in black appliances as they needed to be replaced because my vintage house already had white tile with a black border halfway up the walls. When I had to replace the flooring, I used white tile -- I wanted black and white, but at that time I couldn't find large black tiles. Now the time has come to paint my wood cabinets and I am using black, the counter top will be black. The wallpaper above the tile is a grey background with a black and white floral and mustard yellow accents. The back splash is grey, black, and white mosaic tile. Now my kitchen is large with quite high ceilings and my taste is eclectic, so while this may sound busy, it suits my decor. Good luck with your choices and most of all use what you love!!!Helpful Reply

Country Design Home on Aug 10, 2016Oh my goodness- the possibilities are endless! You could go with dark or light, retro or modern or vintage, depending on the look you are going for. I just clicked on Houzz.com and typed in black kitchen appliances- so many options to choose from! http://www.houzz.com/photos/query/black-kitch...Helpful Reply

Judith.a.nelson on Aug 10, 2016I used an aqua with black appliances and cabinets and loved the look, also got a lot of compliments so others liked the combination. Paint a piece of cardboard and study it for a few days to see how well you like a color.Helpful Reply

Helen on Aug 10, 2016I would do a creamy white cabinet with! Tie it in with a color of your choice such as wood floors in a lighter color. (they also have tiles that look like wood you could use). Do your backsplash in creamy white subway tiles and the paint, if any, in a color of your choice. Maybe look at paint chips and choose those you really like and bring home a sample of each to put on a wall to test it.Helpful Reply

Carol Connelly on Aug 11, 2016I used an Ice White color for my cabinets and then did a tin style back splash and have all black appliances and brushed chrome handles on the cabinets and brushed chrome light fixtures. My floors are light teak laminate.Helpful Reply

Jim L on Aug 11, 2016If your counter tops are the "usual" brown/beige/black granite, how about painting the bottom cabinets a "dove grey and the uppers a soft cream. That will pull a lot of this together.Helpful Reply

Janet Pizaro on Aug 11, 2016I think you need to make a decision based on your own decorating style. Every one has different taste. Many will shout color schemes they prefer. That does not mean that is a correct choice.Good luckHelpful Reply
