What do I do with Pine old kitchen cabinets besides ripping them out?
We have an old house with Pine cabinet fronts, any suggestions on how to change it to make it more modern? I can't afford new cabinets and don't want to paint them white

Paint them another color! Grays, blues, greens are all pretty. Two tone cabinets are striking too. Darker on bottom, lighter color on top.
Paint them with aroma-free Kilz primer, then you could paint them any color you like. White and gray are both very popular right now depending on your docor. Also be sure to upgrade the handles or replace with newer handles from your local home improvement store. Sounds like fun!
Staining is an easy process if you follow the directions in the kit. Look at the kits to see if there is a shade you like. You will find everything in the kit except the brushes. Remove the doors if you decide to varnish or paint and lay them on a saw horse for easier access.
You could also stencil on them or put contact paper on them. Some contact paper is removable when you want a change.
Change out all the knobs and pulls for an updated look. Add decorative trim, as you like, to cabinet fronts.
