you need to shop for a heat shield. there are some that are for kitchen stoves and some for wood burning stoves. there are some that are adhesive. Not sure about how pretty they can look but better than starting a fire!
sheet metal. I have a chunk of sheet metal as a back splash behind ny stove. It’s covering up about 50 or so holes in that wall. the piece I picked up at the diy store was maybe 30 dollars. I cut it to size with a jig saw and a metal cutting blade in the jigsaw.the other trick? Caulking as a glue. Kept it on the drywall long enough for me to screw it down to the drywall,
I had something very similar in an apartment. I was stunned when I took down my shield and found a hole burned in the wall. When ever you can, avoid that side of the stove. I think ceramic tile might work but a shield with an air space would be better if space allows.
Have the Stove moved to a better place, so the problem will be no more.
You can use sheet metal or Durarock and tile.....key is there must be a 1" gap behind your shield to allow cool air to flow behind it. And you must install per the manufacturer's and local codes clearance requirements. Not following this could potentially void your home owners insurance if you burn your house down.

Try stainless steel, on the side you need it, like a backsplash.
