My vote is for quartz - I must be the only person in America that does not care for granite. Regardless of what is cool and trendy, look at the cleaning and maintenance procedures. If you cook, or cook a lot, everyday ease of maintenance is of far greater importance than how pretty it looks. Look at all options and consider your household and lifestyle.
Quartz is more resistant to staining than granite. If you choose granite seal it every year.
If I had to do it again, I'd go for the quartz. It's virtually indestructible. Granite is not carefree.
Love my granite.
Granite requires up keep and is more delicate. Quartz is Very durable.
goodluck
They are both great products. The main difference is the maintenance....since granite is a natural stone, it will need to be sealed a couple fo times per year to protect it. Quartz is a manmade product and does not need sealing. Also, they each have their own look....so that is a factor to consider as well.
