Which would look better a high table or a regular sized table

I am looking for suggestions on what to do with this oddly shaped nook. A breakfast nook? Should I put in a high table or an ordinary table?
Nook in the corner of the kitchen.

I would get a high cafe style table, that way you can get good table lighting for reading the morning paper, as qell as well as flowers during Spring & Summer or a plant in Fall and Wintertime on the tabletop. Many of the new cafe style tables are gorgeous too.

A high cafe style would look better due to the high window. Plus, wall art or photo would complete the area.

If you didn't want a breakfast nook, a reading nook would look good as well. A bookcase and a comfy chair with a nice mat? Or maybe a cane chest with a large print above it?

A high table would look good but I would suggest a banquette with a round table.

If you go wit a high table you get into what kind of stools. I find them uncomfortable and not so easy to get on and off of them , especially if you entertain older folks or have young ones who would normally eat there

Small round café table with comfortable captains chairs with bright colored cushions ....that 's what I would do then you can cover the table a nice bright table cloth, cloth napkins and all

I'd go with a cafe table & chairs. Tall would bring your heads up higher to the ceiling. Giving it an odd look for such a small space.

Im a fan of the pub tables. Chairs with bars for your legs make them more comfortable. But the space is small so I would recommend hanging a curtain rod from just under the ceiling to give the appearance that the windows are higher. This will elongate the space

A drop leaf table might look nice at regular height. Not everyone can sit comfortably on a higher chair. A drop leaf table and some smaller scale chairs might work well. I love the look of a round table but it does not always give you the space that you would like. Some artwork and a beautiful window covering would finish the job. Good luck.

I don't think it's what 'looks' best, it's what functions best for your family. Little kids and short people (like me) have a very difficult time with the high tables/chairs. I don't know the measurements of your area, but possibly a 'booth' type seating arrangement might work.

I think a corner booth bench "around the corner" with a taller back, they make them and then a little rectangle table to scale. This way no one would be looking at the wall eating, they would have that full window or open room view. If you can't find the corner booth bench just used a long bench on one wall and shorter on the other! You would even have room right by the door frame for a 12" maybe tall skinny table for keys and hang a purse hook. And the best part: you can use underneath the bench for storage!

If this nook is the only logical space for them, how about building a raised platform for the regular seating. It would be a shame to sit down and not be able to look out the window.

We have a high bar in our eating area....with stools. I do not like it at all. My legs ache and I find them very uncomfortable. The only ones that like them are very tall long legged people. I would think a small cafe/bistro table would look cute in your space...would be light and airy and you could put cushions on the seats and curtains on the window.

You can get oval counter height table for 4, would look good in that space or a round pub height that seats 2.

The window looks like it's higher than usual. I vote for the taller table otherwise your head would barely be above the window sill.

If this isn't a rental, I would put in a new longer window then add a window seat and make a cute cushion and the curtains could match, I would love to have a window seat but my layout makes it impossible.

Frankly, if it were my space, I would have a small booth installed. because I am too short for a tall table and i'm not a fan of counter height tables. It would be a small booth in an "L" shape similar to the type of booths they have in a diner. If not that, you could in "L: shaped seating booth, a small square table and a couple of extra chairs opposite of the built in seating.

try a round table with drop leaves. You can fold one side down ,put that side next to the wall leaving seating at either end for 1 or 2 & around the second side for several others

I would prefer the regular table but since your window is high I would go with the taller table and chairs so you can comfortably see out the wundows

If you have another place to sit and eat, I would use this space for a quiet reading/contemplation nook. A comfy chair, a rug, a small table enough to place a cup or glass on, and you're set. Get a beautiful hanging light fixture to really enhance the space. Since the large window does go to the floor, you have good visibility there. I wouldn't worry about trying to see out the higher window. I did this sort of "quiet zone" for a client who had a very small area in her home. She loves it.
