  • Oh my goodness!!! That is a bunch of laundry! Do you have a dedicated laundry space, or an area where you can set one up somewhere? With that many people, you may need more than the standard lights / darks / delicates / sheets and towels.

Figure out how exactly you sort your laundry. Then get a bin for each dirty laundry category and label them. Get everyone on board to deposit the dirty laundry in the right bin.

If you have space, print up instructions on how to do the various types of laundry if necessary. The 10 and 12 year olds can start learning to do laundry by helping with the sheets and towels.

How about a folding station? Do you need one? How about a rack next to the dryer with hangers so that things can be hung up immediately?

  • I recommend hampers or garbage pails (plastic) and a sharpie marker

    Four containers.
    1 Dress clothes - Mom n Dad's work clothes?
    2 underwear
    3 everyday clothes
    4 towels, etc

The 12 year old is old enough to run the washer/dryer for #2 & 4. The 10 year old can help fold.

That just leaves #1 & 3 for the adults to handle

When my daughter went to college she had to teach others how to wash clothes because she was doing it for years. started at 12 with #2 & 4 added #3 later!

  • Hi Sue - This is the laundry system we use. Hope it helps. Good luck! Hugs, Holly
