Update an Old Sofa With New Legs!

Hello! It's Jess from Jessica Welling Interiors. I've been busy working on a new project- a TV room/husband's office makeover, since we've been homebound. We've had this IKEA Karlstad sectional for about six years now. The style works great, but I've never been in love with the legs. They're a little too cheap-looking in my opinion. What I didn't know ,was that you can order new sofa legs on Amazon. Total revelation!

Here's a picture of the room and sofa before the makeover...

Turn Sofa Upside-Down

For an Ikea sofa, use an allen wrench to unscrew the bolt that attaches the leg to the sofa. On other types of sofas, the old legs will just twist off.

Remove Old Legs

As you can see, there was also a wood dowel attaching the two. We broke a couple while removing them, but they won't be needed for the new legs.

Screw in New Legs

The new legs we bought are perfectly compatible with this Ikea sofa, so all we had to do was screw them into the hole. However they did come with additional hardware that can be used to attache them if the existing sofa hardware isn't compatible with the new legs.

And there you go it's done. I couldn't be happier with how quick, easy, and inexpensive this project was! This is actually the second sofa we've added stylish new legs to.
