DIY Cross Pattern Curtains

I wanted to add some "FUN" to my screen porch for summer with both color and pattern! Here's how I made a big impact on a small budget with DIY cross pattern curtains. I used 6' x 9' drop cloths that I purchased at Lowe's for around $10 each, ScotchBlue Painter's Tape, Maison Blanche Paint in Navy, and a sample can of Valspar Scarlet Tanager (an orange red).
I made a template for the cross pattern and traced the design onto the drop cloth with pencil.
Then I taped off each cross with ScotchBlue Painter's Tape. I used a small foam roller to apply the paint and did two coats to get good coverage.
Once the paint was dry, I removed the tape and that's it. The tape did an amazing job at keeping the lines of the crosses crisp!
As you can see, the side panels I covered with the pattern, but for the others, I chose to do three rows to mix it up a bit. I knew if I didn't like just the three rows, I could always continue and add the cross pattern to the whole curtain. In the end, I liked the variety with two panels with a full pattern and two with the partial pattern! What do you think?

I love the cross motif + use it a lot in my biz, RedBird Vintage Home. I'm going to think about making a cross shower curtain of my own for our project house!

It is almost impossible to find the + sign fabric curtains, shower curtain, throws, and pillows and many more things and I’ve fell in love with this pattern!!! I never thought about doing the fabric painting to make it! I did use vinyl to make a coffee travel mug but I never thought about painting it screen printing it! Thanks for the absolutely great idea!!!! ❤️
